Hessler Art days

Every year, leading up to the Fair, the community gathers to paint chairs, banners and signs. Come on by and join us. Saturday May 14th or Sunday May 15th!

Hessler Chair project

We like to paint chairs and sit on them - during the Fair. Bring chairs and we'll paint them or paint them and bring them yourself! Its part of our tradition.

HELLO ARTISTS!!

Want to become part of one of the best spring-time events in all of the greater Cleveland area?

The Hessler Street Fair has been one of the pre-eminent venues for great music, art and food for over 40 years.  Our selection process for artists is based on creativity, originality and diversity, with preference to local artists.  To begin the application process, we must first determine that you meet our criteria for artwork that is original and appropriate for a family-friendly event.  We never accept resale, relabeled, imported or manufactured goods at our artist booths. To this end, please send a brief description of the work you wish to sell to the following e-mail address: vending@hessler.org.

If approved, you will then be sent the link to the application.  Deadline for applications is Feb. 21st, 2012. At that time it will be determined who will be included in this year’s fair.  Acceptance is based on quality, originality, and diversity of media to ensure a successful event for both merchants and visitors.

It is important to note that all organizers, musicians and support staff receive no financial payment for their service.  The Hessler Street Fair was begun as, and continues to be a, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting community awareness and cohesiveness in a neighborhood constantly at peril of being overrun by corporate and institutional interests.

Booth fee is $100, which is due when you submit your application.  If you are not accepted to vend, your check will be returned to you.  All artists are also asked to contribute 10% of sales at the end of each day.  This contribution goes along way to insure our ability to proceed with next year’s fair and we count on your honesty and generosity.

So get started and whether as a participating artist or visitor, we hope to….

SEE YOU AT THE FAIR!

Planning on 2012

The Hessler St fair steering committee has started to meet – getting our planning act together for next year’s fair – which will be held on May 19th and 20th – 2012.

Besides all the great, authentic hand made goods, food, music, art, poetry, photos and vibes that we’re known for – we’re hoping to expand our on-line presence 24/7/365, start recording all these shows and start offering coolio goodies on-line – for purchase.

But that doesn’t mean we won’t be GIVING away a bunch of stuff – as well!

The Fair’s over – but we’re not done yet
